Mino Kabasawa (Pianist / Composer) - Biography

Mino Kabasawa, born in Yokosuka, started playing the piano at the age of three, and was already described as a ‘child prodigy’ during her time at Yamaha Junior Original Concert Program. She undertook an undergraduate course at the Tokyo University of the Arts, and in 1998 she graduated with a Master’s Degree of composition. Her first CD was released from Columbia Music Entertainment when she was still in university, and since then she has released over twenty CDs. Under the artistic direction of the well-known best-seller novelist, Koji Suzuki, Kabasawa composed and performed the music based on Koji Suzuki’s fantasy novel “Rakuen” (“Paradise”), which gained a great attention. After giving her debut concert at Casals Hall in 1997, she made herself appear at numerous concerts such as “Ginza Classics” and “Ginza Mezamashi Classics”. While three CDs of “CHISA&MINO” were released, Kabasawa was also focusing on her concert series “Mino Kabasawa’s Piano Party” which had been started at Oji Hall in Ginza in March 1999. As a composer, she composed and performed works such as TBS Monday Drama Special “Maisou sareta Ai”, NHK TV Anime “Kuma no ko Uufu”, Fuji Television “Ai to Seishun no Takarazuka” and “Seikei Bijin”. She also worked on the music for a film “Hotel Venus”, “Karuta Queen” (NHK), “Chirusoku no Natsu”, “Yokkakan no Kiseki”, “Deguchi no nai Umi”, “Lemon no Koro”, “Hotaka yo Eien nare ~Kitahotakagoya Monogatari” (documentary/ collaboration with JNN). She has hosted the TV program “Sin Daimei no nai Ongakukai” on TV Asahi with an actor, Tetsuya Takeda since July 1999, and has hosted the radio show “Meikyoku Recital” on NHK-FM since April 2003. In June 2003 and July 2004, she performed and recorded her original composition with Wurttemberg Philharmonic Orchestra in Reutlingen in Germany.
